I appreciate the courage it takes to trust someone new.

Why choose to work with me

Getting to the root, not just the surface.

I believe strongly that I can’t ask my clients to explore territory that I haven’t been willing to explore deeply in myself. In my work I am both therapist and fellow human. I am not an expert on your life. Instead, my job is to be a facilitator to support the conditions that help bring your own inner guidance to the surface. I believe that every person I work with has the capacity for incredible access to inner wisdom to support their way forward in their lives.

Many of my clients have had therapy in the past where they felt like they weren’t supported to really get to the roots of their struggles. They may have felt listened to, but not supported in gaining a deeper understanding of how to navigate the complexity of their inner world. As a depth therapist, my focus is on listening to your words, but also to what is happening in the present moment in your body, emotions, and nervous system.

Together we will explore what barriers stand in the way of what you most wish for. Often this leads us to look at the inner conflicts we all have inside of us, such as authenticity versus belonging, or control versus acceptance. While my approach is deeply compassionate, I will also be direct in inviting you to explore territory you may have never explored before. This territory may involve looking at the way you treat yourself internally, and the conflicts you feel about allowing yourself to have emotions like grief or anger.

In session, I move at the pace your system can actually metabolize rather than the pace your inner critic thinks you should be moving at. None of my work is about doing something to you. Instead, it’s a way of being with you in deep presence and compassionate inquiry while you find your own way back to yourself.

A little more about me

Outside of session, I’m often outside enjoying the beauty of nature or indoors reading a good book. I share my home with my husband and our beloved dog, Tara, who has taught me so much about unconditional love. Being a stepmother to two incredible young adults and a devoted aunt to two nieces are also very important parts of my life. I have also lived with chronic pain which has challenged me to expand my capacity for acceptance and finding joy in new ways.

I’ve long been drawn to mindfulness teachings that help me put life into greater perspective. Tara Brach and Pema Chödrön especially help me remember that true freedom is always available within myself regardless of external circumstances and that ultimately the only real security we have is what is present in the moment.
