Frequently asked questions

If your question isn’t answered here, feel free to reach out so I can make sure you get an answer.

I work with adults who are interested in a depth-oriented, somatic approach. I don’t currently work with couples, minors, or situations that need a higher level of care than weekly outpatient telehealth.
My practice is through video sessions only. I see clients by secure video throughout the state of Oregon.
The NeuroAffective Relational Model® is an attachment-focused approach to healing complex trauma, working with how early survival strategies still shape your identity, relationships, and nervous system today. You can read more on the How I Work page.
Yes, absolutely. Part of what I love about this work is that we focus on exploring how old survival strategies are showing up in your life now, in your relationship with yourself and how you connect with others. By working experientially in the moment we have access to all that we need for deep healing without needing to focus on reliving the past or emotional catharsis. This allows the work to feel safer, more efficient, and less re-traumatizing.
Yes. We learn to disconnect from our emotions for good reason, likely because those emotions once felt like they would overwhelm or consume us. This is a common dynamic with complex or developmental trauma. My focus is on meeting you where you are rather than pushing you to feel anything in particular. When therapy attempts to force emotional connection it only reinforces the experience of not feeling safe. Rather than trying to get you to feel, we explore what might have been important about learning to disconnect from your emotions. We remain curious about moments when even subtle emotions arise and explore non-judgmentally the ways that you feel more access to your own aliveness and authenticity and the ways you push it back down. When met with openness and compassion, our natural inclination is often towards reconnection with these parts of ourselves, even if the process is sometimes slower than we would like.
My self-pay rate is $185 for a 60-minute session, with a reduced rate of $150 available based on financial need. If cost is a barrier, please reach out. Private-pay and out-of-network clients are equally welcome alongside those using in-network insurance.
I’m in-network with several plans, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oregon / Regence, First Choice Health, Pacific Source, Aetna, Providence, OHP AllCare, and OHP Open Card (unfortunately I am not in-network with other OHP plans). I will be in-network with Moda as of 1/1/2027. If I’m not in-network with your plan, I provide a monthly superbill you can submit for possible partial reimbursement, and in some cases my biller can bill out-of-network plans directly so you don’t have to, though this isn’t possible with every plan. Reach out and I’m happy to help you figure out your options.
If you’re using insurance, my biller handles billing for you. She can keep a credit card, HSA, or FSA card on file for copays, or you can pay by check. For private pay, accepted forms of payment include check, credit card, PayPal, HSA & FSA cards.
A good way to start is with a free 15 to 20 minute phone or video consultation. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping to get from therapy, I’ll answer any questions you have, and we’ll figure out together whether this feels like a good fit before scheduling a first full session.
Since I am doing depth-oriented work, I prefer to do 60-minute sessions. I find that this length supports getting the most out of a session.
There is no obligation from the start. It’s fine to try one session and see if it feels like a good fit for you. Once we get a sense of whether it’s a good fit, I often recommend weekly sessions for some time, to help us create a good foundation for our work together. In some cases I am open to biweekly sessions to start. I have many clients who switch to biweekly or monthly sessions once they feel they no longer need weekly sessions. How long you stay in therapy is always something we decide together and revisit as your needs change, there’s no set timeline you’re signing up for.
I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. For private-pay and private-insurance clients, a cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice is charged $50, and a missed session (no-show) is charged $75. These fees don’t apply to clients using the Oregon Health Plan (OHP). I also understand that things like illness are unavoidable, so if something comes up, just reach out as early as you can and we’ll figure it out together.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs if you’re not using insurance to pay for services. I’ll provide this in writing before your first scheduled session. It’s an estimate, not a bill, if you ever receive a bill that’s substantially higher than your estimate, you have the right to dispute it. Ask me if you have questions at any point.
